The Challenge
Radiology interfaces deal with a huge amount of information, and most of it is important. The challenge was to create enough hierarchy and structure to make the interface easy to navigate without oversimplifying the workflow. It needed to support expert users who are comfortable with dense interfaces while still feeling clear and intentional.
The Solution
I designed a unified product experience around the core radiology workflow, with a focus on information hierarchy, interaction patterns, and workflow efficiency. A lot of the work came down to deciding what deserves attention, what can stay secondary, and how different pieces of information should relate to each other. The result was a more structured interface that could handle clinical density without feeling unnecessarily complicated.








Project Information
Somatiq brings together RIS, PACS, and medical imaging workflows with DICOM and HL7 interoperability. The imaging experience uses HTJ2K compression to support large medical studies while maintaining a responsive viewing experience.
The platform also incorporates AI workflows using Vision Transformers and Vision-Language Models, alongside fine-tuned speech-to-text and LLM pipelines for structured reporting. From a design perspective, this meant thinking carefully about how AI outputs are introduced, reviewed, edited, and ultimately incorporated into a clinician's workflow.
The design system covered the broader information architecture, navigation, imaging workspace, reporting interfaces, dashboards, clinical data views, and interaction patterns across the product. A major focus was maintaining consistency across these different surfaces while allowing each workflow to have the level of density and control it required.
